Another Day At The Park

Peyton and I try to go to the park as much as we can before the weather turns cold and we have to stay indoors.  This was his first venture on the caterpillar.

We stopped by the skate park again and he was just as impressed as always.

Only this time there was a child no more than 10 years old riding his bike.  Peyton said he wanted to 'do that' when he was 10.  I told him he would have to start practicing right away if he wanted to play at that skate park.  He said he would.  : /  I try to point out the kids who fall and get hurt.  So far it hasn't discouraged him in the least.

"Did you SEE that!?"

THIS is how you start a Monday morning

This morning around 5:45 I woke to a little voice saying, 'Mommy...' about 12 inches from my face.  I guess 4 years is long enough to know the difference in an "im sick", "i'm scared" and "i'm just awake".  This was "I"m just awake at 5:45".  Which recently carries the message "the pee pee has soaked through my pull up and has made my bed uncomfortable"  So after he changed himself and was dry again I let him lay down in my bed until it was time to get up.  At 6:15 my alarm went off and I talked myself into "just 5 more minutes".  Of course Peyton was ready to get up.  So I told him I was going to lay there 5 more minutes and then get in the shower.  He could lay with me or he could go in and turn on the TV.  So he climbed out of the bed but turned on the light in my bathroom instead of heading to the living room.  I was curious but not enough to actually get up out of the bed to see what he was doing- I just assumed he somehow had MORE pee pee and listened carefully for noises that would compel me out of bed.  I heard him turn on the water in the bathtub and I figured he thought he was going to beat me to the shower.  About the time I decided I had better go in and make sure he didn't actually climb in by himself and slip and cause the morning to spiral out of control, he showed up at my bed again.

Peyton: "you wanted a shower, not a bath, right?"
Me: "yes, I do want a shower.  It was very nice of you to start it for me"
Peyton: "ok.  I turned on the bath.  I didn't know how to turn on the shower."

Doesnt that just melt your heart???

Halloween 2011

Ready to "Twick or Tweet!"
(he's an Angry Bird, get it??)
... actually I just thought of that now.  But that's how he said it.
Such a big boy!  Going to the door all by himself.  The doorbell was ALMOST out of reach but he managed to get it every time!!
And a "Twick or Tweet and Thank you!" every time!

Daddy even skipped Monday Night Football.
We're pretty committed to Halloween around here.

The spoils.

Contemplating the spoils.

Talking about the spoils.
With a dead angry bird in the back.

Days at the park

We loaded up the tricycle to head to the park for a ride but we stopped at the high school to practice driving in straight lines.  (He did great!)

We might be in some trouble... Peyton and I took the walking trail (which also allows bicycle and tricycles) at Mitch Park and found the skate park.  He thought it was the coolest thing he ever saw!!!
I don't know how I managed to get a picture with one person in it.  There were about 20 people at the park that day.

More watching the skaters and bikers.

Back at the "Play Park"
We also visited the Skate Park and the Exercise Park that day

Still lots of exercising at the play park!

Comparing our feet and toes while watching Bubble Guppies.  We decided he has long toes.

A Weekend in Amarillo

Saturday morning Peyton and I got up early and drove to Amarillo to see Mae Mae and Gamy and Aunt Lynn and Aunt Janice and Aunt Ginny and... thats where I stopped listing people for Peyton because even I got confused about who we were seeing after that.  Lets just say we went to see most of my mom's side of the family (minus several cousins).

And there were a lot of pictures taken.  On mom's camera.  So this is my one picture from the weekend.  I think its a pretty good one, though.  I'll have to wait until I get the pictures from mom's camera to add to this trip blog.

It was a short trip but we had a really good time.

Painting Pumpkins with Girls

Friday night Peyton and I went to the mall to play with twin girls that Kristine babysits. They had THE BEST time! Then, after we got them good and hyper, we took them to Target to buy pumpkins to paint. If I ever needed confirmation that I am a one-child parent... that was it. I felt like we had children literally hanging off of us. And we kind of did. Three 4-yr olds and three pumpkins don't fit inside a Target shopping cart.  And six hands can reach A LOT of impulse-buy-toys in the check out line.  Just saying.

On the other hand, just look at those little shoes lined up on the arm of the recliner...

So we got the kids and pumpkins to our house and got to work painting.  Everyone thought that was fun.

A girl's paint palette.

A boy's paint palette.

Peyton's gray and silver (and other colors underneath) pumpkin.
He said it was a picture of his mommy...
Maybe I'm biased but I think its very pretty!  :)
