The first weekend with the Pea

We had a great campsite.  It was right on the lake and there was a three foot 'cliff' to climb down to the waterline so Peyton got to throw LOTS of rocks into the lake and Kristine and I sat and watched with our feet in the water. Joe and Brandon took the boat out for the first time by themselves 'just in case' and its a good thing they did! Due to a series of problems, they spent a lot of Saturday stuck at the dock and boat ramp and ended up pushing the boat up and onto the trailer instead of using the wench, which was broken. I can't communicate to you how much I wish I had been there for that. But the boat didn't sink and they got it fixed enough to take it out again by Saturday evening. We all got to ride for a few minutes before it got dark and Peyton almost cried when he didn't get to go again.

Sunday we were up with the sun, packed up and were on the water again by 10. We puttered along the lake some but the open lake was just too choppy and was making me sick (and the paranoid mom in me was starting to come out). So we went to a cove and 'fished' for a while. The only time it was chilly & overcast was the three hours we spent in the water on Sunday. By the time we loaded up the boat, the sun had come out. It was just as well, though. We were all tired and glad to get home with plenty of time to get ready for the week.
